III Summer School in Modern Mathematical Physics
20 - 31 August 2004, Zlatibor, Serbia and Montenegro
General Information
The Ludwig-Maximillians-University, Muenchen, (Germany), the Max-Planck-Institute of Physics, Muenchen, (Germany), the Institute of Physics, Beograd, (Serbia and Montenegro), are organizing the III Summer School in Modern Mathematical Physics. The School will be held 20 - 31 August 2004, Zlatibor, Serbia and Montenegro. (August 20 is arrival and August 31 is departure day.) This activity is a part of the WIGV initiative. The WIGV is an initiative for the advancement of the scientific contacts between Germany and the countries, which have emerged on the territory of former Yugoslavia. Informations about the previous schools can be found here.
Topics
School's programme is mainly related to some recent developments in Quantum Field Theory and Superstring/M-Theory:
Models on Noncommutative Spaces
Confomal Field Theory | |
Supersymmetry and Superstrings
M-theory | |
String Field Theory | |
Matrix Models | |
D-branes and Dualities
Classical and Quantum Gravity
String Cosmology and Dark Energy. |
Lecturers will be asked to give 2-3 lectures, starting from an introductory level which should be gradually advanced. A number of short workshop reports on the current research will be also possible, so a part of this meeting will be organized as a workshop.
Participants
The number of participants is expected to be about 80. They will be mainly from the region and Europe. The organizers wish to encourage the active participation of young researchers from former Yugoslavia, as well as from South-Eastern and Central-Eastern European countries. Therefore, the organizers will attempt to cover the living and travel expenses for these participants as much as possible. Financial support for other participants is also possible.
The organizers of the School will also take care to:
1) Support Yugoslav experts and young scientists in
Mathematics and Theoretical Physics to create active
collaboration and fruitful research in modern
Mathematical Physics; 2) Revive connections and
collaboration between colleagues from different republics
of former Yugoslavia; and 3) Improve scientific relations
with colleagues from Europe and the rest of the world.
Participation Fee
The conference fee is 80 Euro, and 40 Euro for students and accompanying persons. The hotel price for participants is 30 Euro per day.
